NAMI of Homer and Circle of Wings Drop-In Center in Homer share the same mission as NAMI National: Support; Education, and Advocacy. We do this on a daily basis at the drop-in center by offering the following services and opportunities: assistance with daily activities; laundry and shower facilities; full kitchen and food from the Homer Food Pantry and other donated sources.
Most of our folks are low income and often live in sub-standard housing.
Other activities at Circle of Wings include art classes, art sales gallery, NAMI C.A.R.E. support groups, and a weekly potluck. On a daily basis folks are assisted with housing, food, clothing (if available), job search, Social Security filing, and Workman’s Comp. By offering these services we are empowering people to help themselves. We also educate and support local families and individuals who are in emergency mental health situations and refer to other agencies as they are needed. These folks are also encouraged to continue to come to Circle of Wings for future support (which always includes some education).
